Our philosophy is simple: landscapes work best when they are shaped by the land itself. Every project begins with listening — to the site, its soils, its hydrology, its microclimate, and the natural rhythms of the Great Lakes region. We design with intention, creating landscapes that respond to place rather than impose upon it.

ROOTWISE Design Studio brings the technical discipline of landscape architecture together with the love of plants to enhance outdoor living spaces.

We create landscapes that are resilient, buildable, and deeply connected to their site. Landscapes that support pollinators, strengthen environmental health, and reflect the character of northern Michigan’s lakes, rivers, and landforms.

This is our philosophy: design and growing shaped by land, rooted in place, and carried out with intention.
